The easiest way to teach complicated concepts is to begin simply - even high-school kids love being read to. For this lesson, read "Please" by Alicia Aspinwall to your students (Google it - it's available). As you read or just after, have students answer the questions on the worksheet. Discuss. It teaches students basic literary elements such as genre, theme, moral, characterization, plot, and how to relate stories to one's personal life.
