This is a great game for CCSS 2.NBT.1, 2.NBT.2, 2.NBT.8; pairs of players use a variety of items including digits, coins, units, and tallies to determine the amount shown. Player decides which card will represent tens and ones.
Then the player determines if he/she wants to add ten more, minus ten less, or keep the number the same. Player pairs use one hundred board and have colors/markers to mark their number on the board. Once a player covers 3 in a row of a diagonal, a horizontal, or a straight lined that player wins the game. The game can be made more difficult by having students cover 4 or 5 numbers on the hundred boards in a row. A great way for students to recognize that a variety of items can represent numbers in counting. There are card sets for 4 different counting items/games which may be reproduced for single class use.
