This is a copy of the documents I use for the take-home Poetry Binder in my class. It contains over 45 poems that we use throughout the year.
I have the poems written on large chart paper and we read a new poem each week as a part of our Poetry Center. At the end of the week, I pass out the page containing the poem (all are in this pdf) and the students read and illustrate them before adding them to their Poetry Binder.
They take the binders home over the weekend to read with their parents. I have really loved doing this each year because it really helps promote literacy at home!
The poems are ones that I have collected, found and written over the past 7 years. The poem pages are left intentionally plain so that the students can illustrate them however they please!
Please feel free to use the questions tab to ask anything before purchasing. If you do purchase, I would love your feedback!
Hello! Please email me at KTPonTPT@gmail.com and I'll be glad to send you a few samples. I don't know if they will qualify as "ol' favorites" but I'll be glad to send you a few! They are fun and mostly rhyming, and a lot of them can be sung to a tune (Twinkle, Twinkle and London Bridges to name a couple tunes). They are perfect for building fluency in a primary classroom! My firsties love going to the Poetry Center and love taking home their Poetry Binders every Friday!
