I use this activity as one stations/centers activity, or you can break them up, and have 5 different poetry writing stations. I ask students to write a poem in response to the novel we are reading. I give them the choice of several different types of poetry choices, along with directions for each type of poem.

I have worked with a number of grades, between the regular school year and summer school, including 6th - 12th grade. I originally started with an elementary background, and so I have some elementary materials as well. For the past few years, I moved up to higher education, teaching at a community college.
