Want to motivate your students to learn poetry elements? Analyze lyrics from popular artists! In this 14 page booklet, you will find 8 song lyrics with artist, song title and questions to follow. Also included is a general list of questions that can be used with any song. Some poetry elements included in the questions are rhyme scheme, artist's purpose, figurative language, mood/tone, and specific questions about the meaning of the lyrics. I do one a month and my students beg for me to do more! Of course I download the song for them to listen to as well! Artists include: Bon Jovi, Luther Vandross, John Cougar Mellencamp, Roberta Flack, Steve Miller Band, Bono, Taylor Swift, and Mariah Carey. Thank You for visiting my store!

This was great to use in my Emotional/Behavioral classroom. It is difficult to get 6th grade boys to discuss poetry but they were all able to discuss the songs.

Can I get this not in "read only" form at all? I just got it and glanced through it and it looks FABULOUS ...but one lyric is wrong in "Killing Me Softly" ...it's not "in all my darkness fair" ...it's "in all my dark despair."
