This 49 page packet contains 23 sets of poems that children illustrate and keep in individual poetry folders along with instructions for how the children illustrate and use the poems. Each set has a colored version that can be used by the teacher to make a class book of poems and a black and white version that the children illustrate and keep in individual poetry folders. The poems follow montly themes common in most kindergartens such as apples, pumpkins, turkeys and friendship. All you have to do is print them and you are ready to go. I purchased novely folders such as Sponge Bob and Bat Man for my class and let the students sellect a folder. They love to add poems to their folder and read them during Literacy Stations. I also have my students higlight sight words they know in the poems. Poetry folders are a great way for students to practice reading, phonics, rhyming words, sight words and fluency.
