This is a seven page Word document on the topic of Poetry and use of imagery and figurative language. Such poetic devices as similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, hyperbole and personification are covered with an explanation of each, as well as with examples of each one. Students are given the opportunity to select their own poem and collaborate with other students in an investigation of how these poetic devices work and for what purpose. They are then required to present their findings to the rest of class in a structured, yet creative manner.
