Poetry Unit Bulletin Board Includes:
-Posters for the five main characteristics of poetry and their definitions (rhyme, rhythm, shape, mood, and figurative language)
-Definitions of four types of figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole) and examples of each
-Contains optional letter to parents/guardians to attend students' poetry performances
Poetry Unit Handouts Include:
-A teacher copy of notes on the five main characteristics of poetry
-Student copy of notes (with fill in the blank sections) on the five main characteristics of poetry
-Poetry book menu (Use for students' poetry books)
-Poetry Performance analysis page (Students will fill this paper out for a poem they select to perform)
-Poem Analysis (Select four poems for students to analyze. You can use this form to make sure students can identify important characteristics in those poems.)
Poetry Directions and Examples Include:
*A student copy of definitions and examples of the following nine types of poems: couplet, quatrain, concrete, limerick, acrostic, lantern, haiku, diamante, and cinquain
