This is a Poetry Unit that teaches the following kinds of poetry: Acrostic, Couplets, Haiku, Telephone Number, Terse Verse, and Limericks. It also has pages for: explaining what poetry is, the sounds of poetry (end rhyme, simile, metaphor, rhythm, alliteration, assonance, repetition, onomatopoeia, and personification), a page with directions for editing and proofreading, pages for writing their final copy, and grading sheets for each of the 6 poems.
I made this unit very colorful because I think it sparks their imagination and creativity, but it could be run off in black and white.
I put all the pages together to make a poetry booklet, using their Acrostic Poem (I Am Poem) as a cover. Students were proud of their final product:)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
I taught for 38 years in Elementary Education. I was on the Math Best Practices Team for Minnesota, the Reading Committee, MEEP, the Sci/Math Team, an IGE Team Leader, the computer specialist for our elementary school for 28 years, as well as many other committees and teams throughout my years as a teacher. I retired but continue to substitute in our school for grades K - 12.
