Need a way to review poetry and figurative language terms?
Concepts included in lapbook:
Foldable 1 includes:
stanza, line, repetition and rhyme scheme
Figurative Language flip includes:
simile, metaphor, idiom, hyperbole, alliteration, onomatopoeia and personification
Poetry terms flip book includes:
Haiku, Tanka, Diamante, Bio Poem, Ballad and Limerick
The last foldable:
Room for students to create a couplet, triplet, quatrain and cinquain
In the center there is a "Poet-Tree" with definitions on the tree and the term on the leaves.
Lots of great review and room for students to create their own examples.
For those of you who have copy limitations, I created extra pages for you to just print out the terms and the students can create their own foldables with construction paper.
I also created a black and white version of the "Poet-Tree".
Used this recently with my class. They seemed to enjoy it.

I loved creating this with my class. I used it throughout the year as a reference that the students could use. They kept it in their poetry folder all year. WONDERFUL!!!!
I love the idea of the lapbook - so fun! My only request, if you were to ever upgrade it, would be that the tree not repeat some of the poetic forms that are in the little flipbook on the inside of the lapbook. But overall, I love it!
Integrating poetry into the common core next year will be tricky. This lapbook will help students understand figurative language, not to mention that my students love to make lapbooks and portfolios!
Great to have this resource for my poetry unit - the "voice" development is complementary to my students' progression throughout the unit - thank you!!

Hello, I have purchased this item :)
If possible, I would like an editable copy in Microsoft Word.
Thank you very much!

I'm sorry, but due to clip art in the file, I can't do that. Is there something you would like to see added? Feel free to email me at funinroom4b@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

I am unable to print the pages. I can only print pages 1-3. Thanks.
Do you have the most current version of Adobe? That could be the issue. I can email you the file, too. Email me at funinroom4b@gmail.com and I'll send you the file.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

I just purchased your product and I think it is going to be great. Do you have a blank copy of the pages that you could send me, or send them in Word format? Texas does not follow the Common Core Standards, we have TEKS, and are required to teach some different poems and terms than the ones you have listed.
Thank you for your help!
I was hoping for detailed directions as to how to make the different books... or a photo. Also, the font is adorable but it is so tiny and extremely difficult to read. I'm a special education teacher (consultant model and resource) and I'm afraid I won't be able to use this product at all :(
You can find more information (and pictures) on my blog:

If you'd like the Word Document of the foldable parts, I can email those to you and you can change the font. Send me your email and I'd be happy to do that for you.

Thank you for your quick response! Yes, I believe I have the correct version of Adobe. It will not print past page 3 and I have downloaded it multiple times just to make sure. My email address is scabanasac@olatheschools.org. Any help you may have is greatly appreciated and I just love your stuff!
