Grab your towel and come crash a Pool Party!! This cute pool party-themed game is designed for little ones who are learning and practicing saying the /gr/ and /kr/ blends ( great, cracker)
Ages: Preschool to 2nd grade
Great fun for speech therapy, practicing words at home, literacy centers,small groups
Objective: Read, say, or repeat words making a good /gr/ or /kr/ sound.
Players draw a card, read or repeat word, roll die, and advance on the game board.
*Challenge: Ask students to use the word in a sentence to use in context.
Note: Children do not need to be able to read to play game. They can repeat/echo the word on the cards that the teacher or peer says.
Contents:
Game board with cute pool party graphics. Just print, laminate and add a die and game markers!
A total of 63 word cards- 33 word cards for /kr/; 30 word cards for /gr/
**I have included two different recording sheets for accountability if you use in a literacy center or working with words.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

24 years teaching reading and language arts, and I still LOVE it! I've been a reading specialist for the last ten years and most recently a literacy coach for Pre-K to grade 5 in an elementary school. I began my career teaching honors British and World Literature to high school juniors and seniors. Developed elective course curricula for Shakespeare and Women In Literature courses. Next, I moved on to middle school, teaching grade 8 English Language Arts for 7 years. English department chair for 6 years. Worked as a literacy resource teacher for grades 6-8 and wrote, coordinated, and led professional development to teachers on a weekly basis for four years.
