Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business presents an 11 week unit contains everything you need to orchestrate a "structured" method to teach and keep track of your students' progress in learning their sight words. In this 100 page unit, you will find many tools and printables to use in a variety of ways and to tailor to your own classroom's needs and abilities. This program has been created, revamped, and revised again, after years of using the concept of "popcorn words" with kindergartners. Some of the items included in this kit are: a visually appealing study sheet for each of the weekly words (including challenge words for the higher level children to use for differentiation!) along with an easy homework sheet to encourage family involvement, "check in" sheets, individual popcorn student dictionaries, a large full colored popcorn piece with each word on it for your popcorn word display and MORE! BONUS**Directions for the "Burnt Popcorn Game"- a game to get your students moving and learning! This unit allows you to make sure your kinders are getting experience with the right high frequency words and also allows for your creativity. You won't be disappointed! Newly revised and updated in April of 2011!

Hi,
Your units look fabulous! Before I buy, is this unit different than the Monkey popcorn words unit?
Thanks, Rachel

I wouldn't purchase it if you already have the monkey unit. It is the same basis, but uses a different order of words and more words per week. I guess I should probably make a note of that, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I created the Monkey one to go with a new reading series (Kinder Treasures) and it follows it exactly. The other unit was my own creation of a spelling program, but the same idea. Thanks for inquiring!

Sounds like a plan - I'll try to play around with the printer. Thanks so much Krissy. I'm just getting started and love all your stuff!

You are more than welcome! Let me know if you get to use your gold paper! I'd love to see pictures of them hanging in your room!

Is there any way I could get a copy of the word wall words with just a white background? I have tons of gold paper and would like to be able to print them on that rather than using up my color cartridge.
Thanks!

We have the copiers set up to print from our computers, so I just print them on yellow paper at school. I don't have a "black and white" version of the words, so I don't know how else to help out. Oh wait! Can't you change your printer settings to black and white, then the yellow wouldn't print?? Try that...hope it works for you! I know it is a lot of ink (to print in color) BUT the way I rationalize is that (if you laminate them) you will get years of use out of them. Let me know what you figure out!
