This is an engaging activity to practice following directions; plus you might learn something new about each of your students. The glyph requires the children to draw, color, or glue different items on the Pot of Gold starting point. Students are to finish this glyph using the seven categories listed below. It makes a perfect March activity!
1)How Do You Come to School?
2)Shamrocks (age?)
3)Rainbow (favorite colors?)
4)Boy or Girl?
5)Coloring the Hat (like to read?)
6)Coloring Your Gold (hair color?)
7)Name
Examples of the first two categories can be seen on the preview version of the handout. So that each student has the same starting point, an outline of a Pot of Gold is provided on page 4 of this five page activity. This handout also includes an outline of a girl leprechaun and a boy leprechaun that are to be cut out for item #4, Boy or Girl?
The activity can be easily adapted for first grade or kindergarten by reading the directions to the children.

I have been teaching since "the earth cooled". My husband is a teacher as well, and together we have over 75 years of teaching in the elementary, middle school, high school and college areas. My focus is mathematics while my husband's is science. We never want to do anything else because we love it! My teaching style is hands-on and energetic while using diverse teaching strategies.
