Integration, integration, integration. This project integrates social studies, reading and writing and technology, into a project. Students will use PowerPoint, and the Internet, in order to complete this project on one of the seven important Americans that are required for 1st graders in Georgia: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Sacagawea, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, George Washington Carver and Harriet Tubman. The multi-step project includes Internet research and informational writing, within the realm of a Power Point Presentation. Originally designed for first grade, this project can easily be adopted for older students.

I currently teach a mixed age class of 3rd and 4th graders at the International School of Morocco. Previously, I have taught 1st grade and 3rd grade, as well as teaching all grade levels in the computer lab at a Title I school in Georgia. I have taught both high income and low-income school students, and find that no matter where I teach, most kids need to look at every problem from 12 different angles. Although it is challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding.
