This file contains 13 vocabulary activities that can be used as independent center activities or extra vocabulary practice. Each of the vocabulary center worksheets contain 5 words related to a theme or spelling pattern. Rather than simply copying definitions from a dictionary, students are asked to find the words in a dictionary and provide information about each word’s part of speech, syllabication, and definition. Students are then asked to complete a cloze activity using the words. Themes/word lists include: -ea words, -le words, -igh words, -able/-ible words, Tale of Despereaux, Dr. Seuss, lighthouses, raccoons, tall tales, Earth Day, Groundhog Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Valentines Day. These activities work very well with my "Word Building Activities" and "Recipes for Reading Comprehension" products. Includes answer key.
