This is a fun little probability math game for grades 6 and 7. It can be used as a stand alone game, as a math center, and is also a go-to option when you have a guest teacher in.
Students use what they know about probability and chance to win this dice game. You can also allow students the opportunity to place bets with this game using your own class currency, play money, or the Math Money provided with this resource. Winning students can redeem their Math Money for class points, treats, free time or other privileges.
Finally, as an extension following the game, students are asked to find theoretical and experimental probability of various dice rolls. These paper and pencil activities require students to create a tree diagram and tables and calculate probabilities in fraction, ratio, decimal and percent form. They could also easily be used as a quiz or review.
Included:
-2 game boards (one black and white and one color)
-Rules sheets for students
-Math Money
-Paper and pencil task for calculating theoretical probability
-Paper and pencil task for calculating experimental probability
-Solutions for theoretical probability (experimental will vary)
-An adapted sheet for students to assist with calculating the theoretical probability.

This was awesome! Lots of room for discussion...we even extended the game where students could create a "twist" to the game that changed the probability/risk.

I have been teaching for 6 years now. I currently teach Grade 7 Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Health but I have taught grades 3 to 9, multiple subjects. My passion is teaching Math, for sure. I love the challenges that middle school students bring to the room every day. It's a very special age to be a part of. They teach me so much.
