Every math book I've ever taught from has ended the year with probability...So why not add a little fun and excitement to probability. This packet includes a lesson plan that walks your students through a probability lesson using your favorite goodies. I used fruit snacks, but this can be used with lots of other things like:
M&Ms, Skittles, Rainbow Goldfish, Smarties, holiday candy...anything that has objects of various colors.
Children get experience making predictions, creating graphs, utilizing tally charts and spinners, as well as answering deep, open ended questions that really get them thinking!
Help keep that excitement going in your math class. Everyone knows that the only thing better than learning, is learning with FOOD! :)

I saved this unit until the end of the year. It was engaging for the whole 2nd/3rd grade class! My volunteer helper is quite a mathematician, and he said it was the best unit on probability he'd seen in quite awhile.

Are you using a Mac? You need to make sure that you are not opening the document in 'Preview'...You have to actually open it with the Adobe program. If that doesn't work, you can contact TPT and they can probably help you out.

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
