Use this problem-solving handout and signs to help give students a visual reminder of 5 different problem solving strategies. The strategies include guess and check, work backward, draw a picture, draw a table, and find a pattern. I have created a problem-solving strategies product to correlate with the strategies to give students specific strategy practice.
We put these free posters in several of our classrooms, not just for students to reference, but to help remind teachers to use Common Core Mathematical Practices.

EVERYTHING ASHLEIGH has is FANTASTIC. I love all her files. I wish she could be my mentor teacher. As a first year teacher her site is a lifesaver. Download everything she has!!!
These are nice posters to help focus on math problem solving strategies. You picked the best ones to emphasize, I think. The graphics will help students remember the strategy more than just a little picture and a definition. Clever work!

On your website you also show a poster for Draw a Picture. It has a blue border around it, a clip art image, and a description of what this strategy looks like. Do you have other posters like this? Are they for sale or download?
Hello, I love these posters for problem solving. I plan to start the year going through the problem solving process and strategies with my 6th graders and these will be great! However, I have 3 other strategies I could love to have posters for... I was wondering if you had a template with the picture frame/owl that I could use to do the others or something like that. I just would love to have a mini poster for each strategy that I could put up as we discuss it.
I've been teaching for 8 years and think I have the best job in the world! I've taught 3rd and 4th grades and love developing curriculum and activities for my students.
