A quick 20 sentence review or tutorial of the proofreading skills that are tested on many standardized tests. This quiz requires minimal teacher involvement. Students will read a sentence and then choose from: spelling error, capitalization error, punctuation error, usage error, or no error. After making the choice, the next card will show the correct answer, and a third card for each sentence will provide an explanation of the rule.

I had problems showing this from my usual computer. The document would not open. I also think there is an error on one of the slides where there is an exclamatory sentence. The slide reads "explanatory." I was able to use the program and my kids enjoyed it, but wish I could have used it on the other computer. Thanks for any help opening the document and with the error.

Sorry to bother you again on how to save the materials, "Punctuation, Capitalization, and Usage Skills Computer Quiz." It kept on flashing the following sentence: Without the owner password, you do not have permission to save this document. If I cannot save the materials on my computer, then I cannot use it in class. Please advice. Thanks.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Charlene Tess taught English and creative writing to high school students and adults for over thirty-four years. She was the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Ysleta Independent School District in 1998, and one of the five finalists for Region XIX Teacher of the Year. She is listed in Who's Who in America. Mrs. Tess now devotes her time to writing fiction and teaching fiction writing to adults.
