This 28 slide PowerPoint slide presentation explains the usage of hyphens, dashes, and semicolons, and then student can practice punctuating the sentences that follow. At the end there is an answer key so they can check their work. This can also be played as a game by dividing the class into teams and teams submit their answers-the team with them most correct answers wins!

I have a total of 20 years teaching experience. After I received my M.Ed. from the University of Florida, I began teaching in elementary school, where I taught pull-out remedial classes for grades 2-5 and a section of K-1. Then I taught Pre-K for 5 years, before I decided to go up to Middle School, where I have been in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I am currently teaching 7th grade. I am certified in Elementary Education as well as in Middle Grades in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am certified as a Teacher Support Specialist.
