This is a Literature Activity that would work well with any literature book. It includes a puzzle template with nine puzzle pieces. On each of the following puzzle pieces, students need to write a detailed description of each of the following:
Puzzle Piece 1 - Setting of the Story
Puzzle Piece 2 - Main Characters of the Story
Puzzle Piece 3 - The Problem of the Story
Puzzle Piece 4 - The Goal of the Story
Puzzle Piece 5 - Event 1 Leading to Climax
Puzzle Piece 6 - Event 2 Leading to Climax
Puzzle Piece 7 - Event 3 Leading to Climax
Puzzle Piece 8 - Climax of Story
Puzzle Piece 9 - Resolution
Ont the other side of the puzzle, the students draw a detailed and colorful picture of a main event of the story. When the students completed their puzzles and I had them graded, I then laminated the puzzles and let them trade with classmates to put each others puzzles together.
Included with this project is the puzzle template, the puzzle project instructions, and the grading rubric.
