This fun animated presentation takes students through the process of changing two words in a sentence into a contraction.
Catchy music and sound effects keep students' attention riveted to the task, all the way to the fun ending, which leaves students laughing and, often, applauding.
Each scenario features a student's name. Easy-to-follow directions are included to guide even the PowerPoint novice through the process of personalizing the activity for his or her own class. The slideshow already features my class' names in the sentences, so even if you don't wish to personalize the activity, it is ready to download and go!
Four styles of Follow-Along worksheets are included for use with this presentation or for use in later tasks or homework.
Teaching tips are included for the lesson, as well as directions for using the presentation as a partner activity in a computer lab setting.
This presentation is lengthy. It can be split over several days of practice. Some teachers like to use a few slides of this presentation each morning to begin the day. It provides a great review, even for older students.

I have taught kindergarten, pre-first, first, and second grades. I've also taught special education students, grades K-6. Additionally, I have worked with students and educators to facilitate the use of technology.
