I give these handouts to students as a means of helping them do a close reading of a text. One handout is intended for struggling readers and gives them an option to try and clear up any confusion, to make a prediction, or to make a text connection. The other handout is intended for on-level or higher-level and gives them an opportunity to think critically about plot, character, and/or theme. These handouts can be adapted for any text.

I teach in a New York City Public High School. This year is my sixth year teaching English there. For two years I served as the AVID Coordinator. In addition to teaching, I have served as a Cooperating Teacher for student teachers and a mentor for a new teacher.
