My classroom was growing cluttered with posters as we worked our way through various reading concepts. I wanted to create a concise, clear way to connect all the pieces - Voila! Here it is!
Each puzzle piece is on its own 8.5" x 11" landscape sheet. Simply cut out each puzzle piece and mix and match them to your needs as you arrange them on poster board.
This kit includes posters for:
1. Decoding Strategies
2. Story Elements
3. Connections (Text to Self, Text to World, Texts to Texts)
4. Inferences (including - predictions)
5. "I have learned..."
6. I Can ... (Retell, Write about, Apply, What I learned)
7. Bonus items: A Blank Puzzle Piece, Blue Arrows, "Why?" piece
Thanks for checking this out. I would love to know what you think, email me at cathyscollection@gmail.com
Thanks for your words of encouragement. I made this because my kinders were getting confused with all the various strategies and vocabulary. I wanted a visual aid to help them put the pieces together! I am glad you like it.
I am so happy to hear that you like this - I found it helpful to try to "put the pieces" together for my early learners so they could see that each strategy fits together. If you like this you may also want to check out the catalog of Lyndsey Kurster (my spelling may be off) her site is called "A Year of Firsts" She has an amazing set of Comprehension Strategy posters that are FREE and WONDERFUL -- go check her stuff out.
Thanks to you for visiting my catalog, for making this purchase and for the input. It means so much to me and I am grateful.
I am so happy you like this. It really helped me explain how all the "pieces" and strategies work together. Thank you for visiting my catalog, for the purchase and the feedback. I really appreciate it.
I taught each of these decoding strategies last year using beanie babies in first grade and was looking for a clear, concise way to review with my second graders. Love the puzzle pieces!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, these worked well for me last year and I thought the puzzle pieces really gave a great visual of all the elements involved in reading. I have another set of posters you might enjoy - if you email me at cathyhink@gmail.com, I will send them to you for free! Yay! Write Decoding Posters in the title box. :D
Thanks as well for visiting my catalog, and for purchasing this resource, I really appreciate it.
