Reading for details and comprehension is a skill a lot of readers struggle with. With my students I drilled this skill almost everyday in small group, making them aware when you read you got to pay attention to details!
Whats inside!!**** This packet contains two stories, ( "A Walk for a Cure") and ( "Sick") each story then has a series of questions to answer. Each story also has a reflection page that ask a question that allows your student to write and draw their answer.
I highly recommend using this in your small groups. I used this packet and packets like these weekly with my students. I would read aloud the story, and then have the student read to themselves and answer the questions. We would then go over the questions, and I would clear up any wrong answers. Important to drill to your students to always look back in the story if your not sure!
For your high ones you could give this to them as seat work during center time (review when they come to your table) or homework.
For your low students you could model this entire activity, to show them how readers read for details and go back into the story to answer questions.
Ask Elementary School Rocks a question. They will receive an automated email and will return to answer you as soon as possible.
