Help students become a "Book Detective" and find the text features that are in Fiction and Non-Fiction books. Students learn how to preview a book to see if it will be interesting or helpful for a Novel Study or a Research Project. Includes 4 pages total (two for Fiction and 2 for Non-Fiction).

I like to use these before starting a Novel study or Literature Circle. As well, a great way to look at non-fiction books for a project.

Do you think this would be appropriate for a 1st grade co-teaching classroom? Thanks,
Beth

Hi Beth,

I've never taught 1st grade, but judging by my 6 year old niece, I think it would be too challenging. It's really targeted for grades 4-8.
I've seen more grade appropriate items with the same topic - you might just have to do a more targeted search.

Thanks for asking!
