Literature Circles, or Reading Groups, are a great way to get kids interested in reading. I teach my students to run their reading groups by themselves, and I do it with lots of practice and with these assignment sheets. Each student fills out a different assignment sheet every day and brings them to the reading group to share.
I have included 13 pages- 9 different reading group roles and other pages that I use for novel units.
Reading Group roles include:
Discussion Leader, Word Wizard, Super Summarizer, Chief Connector, Literary Luminary, Purposeful Predictor, Illuminating Illustrator, Imagery Inspector, and Group Guide
Also included is a vocabulary list, character list, and a question box sheet.
I really like these pages. I did notice though that the role description for the "Discussion Leader" and the "Word Wizard" are reversed.
I really like the "Imagery Inspector" job; what a great way to keep kids focused on a part of reading that they often forget.

I found an error on your Literature Cirlcles role sheets. The Disscussion Leader and the Word Wizard roles are switched on the sheets. I tried to go back in and edit them but so far I haven't found a way to make changes. If you could please email me the documents before or after the correct changes have been made I would really appreciate it. My email is shawna.young@carter.kyschools.us

Can you please fix the Reading group Role sheets for Word WIzard and Discussion leader. I would definitely like the clean copies rather than cutting and pasting and trying to change it myself.
