Reading Log - Reading Strategies Sentence Starters for Kids-FREEBIE

SELLER
This reading log is designed to help children and their parents write a short recap of the book/books being read. It is designed to be given on a Friday so that the child can begin writing over the weekend. There are areas for entries on: the weekend, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The students keep the log throughout the week in their responsibility folders and return it on Friday morning. There are reading strategies with sentence starters as well. The strategies included are: Summarize, predict, evaluate, question, connect, and visualize. There are places to write the title, author, minutes read, and parent signature. There is also a place to place a reading goal. It can be a general goal for your class, reading group, or individual.

Are you using a Mac? You need to make sure that you are not opening the document in 'Preview'...You have to actually open it with the Adobe program. Thank should work for you. You might contact TpT if you keep having trouble. They should be able to help out.

This is amazing. I will most likely wait until 2nd quarter to begin. But I love this. My 2 favorite features: It begins with the weekend and cyles through Thursday. The sentence starters are a fabulous idea. It helps eliminate redundant log entries and models how to think about books.
One question: I wonder how other teachers use this, teachers like me who don't have Responsibility Folders (or something similar). Do you copy and bind them together for a quarter or semester or even a year? Or do you send home the 2-page document weekly? I think I'll begin weekly.

I LOVE your site and plan on using ALL of your wonderful ideas. I have taught for 32 years, but next year will be moving to 2nd grade till I retire.
I am trying to download some items but there are black lines that cover part of it and I can't print it without them.
Can you advise???

Do you have a mac? If so, You need to open in the Adobe program, not in the preview option. You may also need to update your Adobe to the newest version. If you have access to a Windows machine, you shouldn't have trouble either. Let me know if you have any other problems.

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
