I love the visual clues! The only thing I wish ...there was a space between each strategy to make cutting them neatly easier and maintain a nice colored border around each one:)
Thanks so much for your comment and rating. I am concerned though... As you bought one copy of this, meaning it is for one classroom only. If you are planning on sharing this file with teachers, you need to purchase additional licenses. One license per teacher. You can do that under "my purchases" and they are only 50% of the original price. If you need more help with this, please email me at maryamoson@gmail.com

Wow! So helpful and fun for both the students and myself! Maybe the Common Core won't be so bad to teach now! :)

I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I usually love your work, but the visuals on these weren't up to your usual standard. The strategies were great, so I'll be using them myself but the cards were just too cluttered to be useful for my students.
I am sorry to read this, but so glad you let me know. The common core wording was very tough to match with pictures and many, many, many teachers asked for the full CC phrases to be on the cards. That takes up a LOT of space. I honestly worked very hard for countless hours to create these cards to be easy enough for students to use and "get." I looked back over this pack today trying to brain storm on how to make it better and I will continue to do this. I never intent to disappoint and would LOVE to have to opportunity to make this up to you if I can. Smaller text size perhaps?

I have a question...I know that the 2 sisters put know/understand print and things under "E" Expand vocabulary...but don't you think there should be standards/strategies on vocabulary acquisition and use from the K common core standards?
Is there any way you can add a few cards for that?:
Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and
multiple-meaning words and phrases based on
kindergarten reading and content.
a. Identify new meanings for familiar words and
apply them accurately (e.g., knowing duck is a
bird and learning the verb to duck).
b. Use the most frequently occurring inflections
and affixes (e.g., -ed, -s, re-, un-, pre-, -ful,
-less) as a clue to the meaning of an unknown
word.
With guidance and support from adults, explore
word relationships and nuances in word meanings.
a. Sort common objects into categories (e.g.,
shapes, foods) to gain a sense of the concepts
the categories represent.
b. Demonstrate understanding of frequently
occurring verbs and adjectives by relating
them to their opposites (antonyms).
c. Identify real-life connections between words
and their use (e.g., note places at school that
are colorful).
d. Distinguish shades of meaning among verbs
describing the same general action (e.g.,
walk, march, strut, prance) by acting out the
meanings
Use words and phrases acquired through
conversations, reading and being read to, and
responding to texts.
Thank you!
Okay... this message overwhelmed me! That is a lot to take in!
I will look into it. That file took me over 50 hours to create because of the graphics and detail to the Common Core. I will add it to my to-do list, but it takes a LOT of work. Can you be patient with me? hehe

Is there any way you could possibly make one more expand vocabulary cafe sign? If so, could you make one that says "Frame the first and last word on a page." Thank you so much! We love you cafe cards!!!!!
I have added it I my file and will try to upload it tonight. I was in vacation this weekend and the "free"
Wi-fi in the hotel was awful and would not allow me to do so!

No, not all the sub standards are included in this set as some do not have connects.

Hi Mary,
I was going over the cards and noticed you had RFK5 on page 15 for "Id a book's front and back" and I believe that should be RIK5, not RF. :) I can fix it after I print it out but just thought you'd like to know. :)
Thanks for making these!
lorena.
I will look at it and fix it for sure... I will have it up tomorrow! Thanks for letting me know!

You creations make my heart flutter, because the children love them, too.

Hi!
I just purchased these and I have a question about the reading ones. Are there mistakes with the literature and the informational standards? I think some should say the RL standard but are labled RI??? Example: Retell the BME, Retell characters, etc... Maybe I am wrong?????? Please advise! Thanks so much!
I just opened my file and checked it out. From what I am looking at, it is right. I double checked it and uploaded it new. Let me know if there are still mistakes.

We call our sight words "heart" words....you have to know them "by heart".
Would you consider adding a card to say heart words in addition to your sparkle, sight, and popcorn ones?
