There is a two-page vocabulary practice activity and a two-page vocabulary test for each story in Unit 4, so a total of 20 pages, plus an answer key. Students use the vocabulary words in various ways, such as matching word with definition, using the word to write a caption for a picture, using vocabulary words to complete cloze sentences, etc.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Grades Taught:

As an elementary teacher for 34 years, I have struggled with a lack of quality materials that provide the necessary practice for concept mastery. It has been my experience that many textbooks and commercially produced materials do not provide the depth of practice and repetition required for student mastery. I have been writing most of my own supplemental materials for years, striving to meet the needs of students who need more than one or two exposures to a concept in order to achieve mastery. My many years in the classroom have provided me opportunities to work with changing curriculum standards and increasing demands for student performance. I have worked with second and third graders throughout my career and have a very solid understanding of the learning process and the needs of young students.
