Are you constantly searching for new ways to keep your students on task during quiet reading (SSR or DEAR) time? Using a reading ticket will hold your students accountable for reading during read to self, read to someone or any independent reading time. Each student is required to read to few friends and get "signatures" from those friends on their daily reading ticket. It might not be "quiet", but I prefer my kids to be REALLY reading! Hope you find the reading tickets helpful!

My experience includes teaching in the classroom, working as a literacy intervention specialist and as a speech-language pathologist. I have taught Young 5's (pre-K), Kindergarten and 1st grade. I've also worked with at risk readers in grades K - 2. In addition to working in an elementary school setting, I have taught classes at the university level as well.
