This is a reading application activity to follow the reading of Oliver Hyde's Dishcloth Concert. This short story is available online or in most short story collections. It deals with the loss of the character's wife and his grief. Students are then asked to read selections from the series "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Teens Journal" and apply the advice from the journal articles to Oliver's situation. The final activity is a letter writing prompt for students to complete. This could be easily adapted to other short stories or situations. For use with middle or high school grade levels.
