This is a great game to work on the word endings: -s, magic e and -s,-ing, and -ed (and the 3 sounds -ed makes). Put the cards in a Rudolph or Christmas basket and have tons of word reading fun. Try not and get the Grinch because then the game is over.
162 word cards:
*54 -s endings
*27 magic e and -s
*36 -ing endings
*36 -ed endings (12 of each sound -ed makes: ed, d and t)
*4 take a card
*4 extra turn
*1 Grinch
*recording sheet
This game is great for your guided reading groups and can focus on the needs of your students. You can also use this activity during your Daily 5 Word Work or as a literacy center where children can record the words they have read.
