This set of 25 Refrigerator Stories helps students in grades PK-1 learn beginning sight words. These stories are printable sheets that children hang on their refrigerator to practice reading the first 25 Fry sight words. These reproducible sight word sheets are sent home with students as sight words are introduced in the classroom. The sheets are hung on the refrigerator so they can be practiced and read several times. This makes a great home school connection. This set also contains a list of the first 25 sight words and parent letter with a list of 10 activities parents can do at home to help their child learn sight words. These At Home activities will help children master these words quickly and allow parents to take part in their childs success. This concept is important because the first 25 Fry Sight Words make up about a third of all printed material. Mastering these words is a crucial part of a balanced literacy program and one that every child needs to accomplish. Once students learn sight words, reading becomes much easier, confidence is bolstered and children experience success. My class loves to take these stories home and hang them on their refrigerator. I hope you enjoy them.

I am a mom using these at home with my Kindergarten daughter. She has struggled with identifying sight words in context (does great with flashcards..). These pages have been a HUGE help. She feels very successful reading them. We keep them all in a binder that she reads from each day. Thank you!

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for your nice feedback. Most teachers are going over them class and sending them home for homework like you. I also use them on my Smartboard during Morning meeting and during Literacy Stations kids read them with a partner and circle sight words. I am glad you are enjoying them. Thanks for your purchase. These are very cute! I'm always looking for ways to give my students more practice reading their sight words. We already have pre-decodable and decodable books our students read through our reading program, Open Court, but it's just not enough. I haven't decided how I will include them in my curriculum/homework yet, but I am excited that they are made and ready to go. Thanks for sharing them!

It seems like you have some errors on your sample (not your preview) --do they exist in your download that we buy? One of the pages has both a and the right next to each other. Another page is missing the picture of the snake. I would love to buy your product but could you check out your sample listed on the website? Thanks so much!

Thanks for checking with me. I checked out the file I uploaded and the picture of the snake shows up on my computer so I think you will be all set. I have sold lots of these and you are the first to notice there is an extra 'the' on that particular page. Good job! :-) This file is in a Doc format so you can easily edit it and delete the extra 'the'. Thanks for noticing it and I will fix as soon as I get a chance. Have a great night! Sue
OK I just fixed it. Thanks again for noticing and letting me know
