Comprehension cards to aid in retelling. There are 11 pages and 15 cards. The cards include a question, picture cue, and Sentence frame to answer with. For example, the character card asks, "Who are the characters in the story?" There is a picture of 2 people and then a sentence frame that says, "The characters in the story are _______." These cards can be used for oral practice or written response practice. The cards include character, setting, problem, solution, most important event, questioning, reflection (something that surprised you, favorite part), a lesson the main character learned, author's purpose, beginning, middle, and end. This updated version also includes a smaller version of the cards (they all fit on 2 pages) that can be used as reference cards for students to keep in their book bags or reading folders. Copy the page front to back and you can fit them all on one page. They are also a great tool to send home for parents to use too!
I copied this for my students to use after their independent reading time. I also made a copy to send home to parents so they have some guidance when their child is reading at home and they loved it!

I love your cards. I just purchased this. I'm wondering if there is a way for you to make a card that has- connections, main event, problem, solution, characters, and setting all on one card? Could you resize those 6 to fit on one page? I would love it if you could! I'd like to have those all on one page as a resource for each child to have. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks so much! :-)
Hello! I am glad you love the comprehension cards! I will work on making a smaller version of the cards to add on to the end of the pack as a resource. I think having a smaller version of the cards would also be a great way to send them home. Thanks for the idea, I will send out an update once it is done.
