This is the first day in my unit over the Revolutionary War. This presentation contains 19 slides. There are 3 "Bell Work" questions that begin this lesson and give your students something to do as they enter the room. The second and third slides are part of an assignment that was given the day before and it deals with the events that led up to the Revolutionary War. I use this as a quick review. This presentation is called "On the Verge of War." It begins with Britain sending troops to Boston and Paul Revere's Midnight Ride. It covers the "shot heard round the world", the capture of Ft. Ticonderoga, Battle of Bunker Hill, election of Washington and the Continental Army, Thomas Paine and "Common Sense" and it ends with the Olive Branch Petition. I also have notes that I give the students to fill in as we go throughout this lesson. The notes are easy to follow as I have underlined the words they need to fill in on their paper.
