The reading program in my district works on a six-day cycle basis. Emphasis is placed on answering higher-level questions based on the text, both orally during team discussions and in writing. Vocabulary is also a daily component (review of the current cycle's words is done at the beginning of every class). The first four days of each cycle have both a reading goal (the lesson's objective) and a "big question," which typically focus on making connections between self and text. At the beginning of each cycle is an OVERVIEW page to help the students keep track of what their assignment is each day. This unit is three cycles long (25 pages total, including cover and vocabulary pages). Let me know if you have any questions, I'll answer as quickly as possible!
