Hi Cara!
I love all your products. I just used the "build a word" as a center today (cut out and laminated for the kiddos) of course those kiddos caught a missing box for "reindeer." As a new blogger too, I know that it always helps to have an extra set of eyes! If you ever need an extra set of eyes please let me know!
It's my second year teaching. I've been ohhing and ahhing over your blog for 2 years. I've finally made my own (2 posts, but it's a start!). Any advice for a VERY new blogger like me?!
Hello there,
I bought this unit last year and I love it. Since I already gave feedback, I can't do it again, so I'm posing a question. I was wondering your thoughts on using the fonts that use lower-case letters where they shouldn't be. I really took notice of it this year...for instance, on the "I Am a North Pole Publisher" recording pages, shouldn't the "i" be capitalized? Isn't that what the lesson is trying to teach? Shouldn't we be modeling correct conventions even in our materials? I understand wanting to use those kind of fonts because they are cute and nice-looking, but when they appear in materials that the students use (who are just starting to understand the usage of uppercase and lowercase letters anyway), aren't we at risk of confusing them? It's just something to think about. I love TpT, and as a frequent buyer, I do intend to start looking more closely at the fonts being used and if they show proper conventions before I buy. What are your thoughts on this, now that you've been selling for a while?
Thank you for your time.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I really appreciate it! I totally understand where you're coming from, but in all honesty, I use the *incorrect* fonts as a teaching opportunity. Of course, I model the correct way, but I like to mix it up and ask the kids to help me proofread my work for mistakes. It really helped my kids to look closely at EVERYTHING!!! And they became such awesome little editors! I would always take time to confer with my kids when they were writing...whether it be during writer's workshop or stations...to talk about what and HOW they were writing and I never thought they were confused...probably because I was reiterating the *right way* no less than a thousand times a day! HA!!! I truly didn't have any problems with the mixed fonts...they're a great springboard for teaching opportunities!!! Plus, I think it's important for kids to be exposed to a wide variety of fonts since everything isn't written in Comic Sans :) All that to be said, I can completely understand your concern and desire to be more intent on what you purchase in the future. Thanks again for the feedback!!! Love hearing your thoughts!! Blessings to you!!!
Oooops!!! They sure will!!! I was looking through it and I must have tired eyes...I don't see the errors?! Would you mind letting me know where the errors are?! I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much! Blessings to you!
I've been teaching for 10 years. I spent 7 years teaching Kindergarten and then moved up to 2nd grade and loved it! I didn't know what I was missing. A year later I moved to 1st grade and I'll never look back. It's the best!
