I do my Reader's Workshop very differently with my Grade 4s, but your graphic organizers have been GREAT for adapting for my lower students. There is so much great stuff in here - thanks!
You might think that at first, but it will be a breeze once you get started!! We hope your students enjoy it! :) Thank you so much for your kind words!!

hi. I am considering getting your Rockin Reading Workshop for my 3rd grade class. I saw that someone asked you if the lessons were Common Core aligned. You were going to try to align it at Christmas. I was wondering if that was something that you were able to do yet. Thanks! I love your products.
Jamie
Hello Jamie,
Thank you for your message- and for your kind words! I had to wait to the summer to tackle that project. It is going to be more in depth than I previously thought. :) So, to answer your question...I have not gotten around to it yet. So sorry about that!!! Our most recent common core reading file is with Camilla Cream- using anchor charts. Maybe that can get you started? Keep checking our blog over the summer! I can't promise a date it will be complete- but I am hoping soon!!!
I hope you have a great night! Melissa :)

Hello, I was thinking about buying your resource, but I guess I was just wondering a little bit about your mini-lessons. About how many would you say there are? I have donereader's workshop, but wnat a more organized resource to help my third graders with common core. Would you say this resource is best for me? Thanks so much for your help.
Hello,
Thanks so much for your question. If you are looking for a file correlated to common core...this will not be the best file for you. We have to tackle the alignment to common core and reading workshop this summer. This gives more information for the teacher about the structure, routine, and format to reading workshop. There are not a lot of in depth reading mini-lessons, we just list a lot of ideas for how to get RW up and running in your classroom. (E.G. Choosing a just right reading spot, recording your books read in a log.)
I hope that helps!

I am going to be teaching 4th grade (my first class) and am wondering if this would be appropriate for 4th graders. I love all the positive comments you have received.
About how many pages are there to download?
Thanks
dolly
Hi-
Congrats on your new position! Yes, this would be appropriate for 4th graders. It includes 122 pages of mini-lessons to teach to your students. We also have an Ultimate Writing Resource that goes much more into the 6 Traits of Writing if your school district uses that model. Best of luck to you, Nicole :)

Hello! Can you tell me a bit more about the mini-lessons. About how many reading strategy lessons are in this pack? Do they include graphic organizers or prompts for the children? I love the idea of RW, but am very curious about how you help kids WRITE about their reading.
Hi Chrissy,
Thank you for your interest in our TPT store!
You know, after reflecting upon your question, I believe that Rockin' Reading Workshop: Gingerbread Style might actually best fit your needs. Although Rockin' Reading Workshop has a long list of mini-lessons and discusses in depth the process of reading workshop, the Rockin' Reading workshop: GingerBread style goes MUCH more in depth about mini-lessons and really breaks down teacher/student responsibility for each mini-lesson.
Here is our blog post:

Here is the link for the product at our tpt store:

Make sure you read the customer reviews- they may help you decide if this is right for you!
Thanks, Chrissy!

Hi there! I am very excited about the Rockin Reading Workshop, however, I can't print it out. The other items I have purchased from you, printed out easily. We are a Mac school, and I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Thanks so much! Katie
Hi Katie,
Thanks so much for purchasing our Reading Workshop file. YES!! The reason why you are having that problem is because of the Mac. Here is what you can do:
This is the message we give to our customers who are having trouble, can you see if it helps in any way?
Newer PDFs can't be seen properly with Preview. To fix this, you need to download the latest version of Adobe Reader (Adobe Reader X) and use that to open it (a Mac will automatically open it with Preview if you don't say otherwise). So, in your Finder Window, highlight the file and then click on the tool in the top of the Finder Window that looks like a sprocket then choose Open With and then Other and then select Adobe Reader.
Let us know if you have any more questions. Have great night, Katie!

Hi! I'm considering purchasing the Teacher Reading Binder but would like to know if it is aligned with the Common Core Standards?
Hello!
No, the common core standards are not currently listed in this resource! That is a great suggestion, though, and I will hopefully have the chance to add them to the file over Christmas vacation!
Thanks so much!
Melissa :)

I was reading about your reading workshop on your website and came across this. Does this contain the fiction contract that you show on your website? and is there a contract for nonfiction?
Hello!
Yes, it does! The contract is a variety of different graphic organizers for fiction and nonfiction books. I introduce each of the graphic organizers during our mini lesson instruction. Then, after all of the graphic organizers are taught and reviewed, the students complete them during their independent reading time. I found that teach each graphic organizer really helps the students understand the expectation for the quality that I expect.
I hope this helps!

I want to start reading workshop with my second graders. Which of your resources do you suggest I purchase? I really need to focus on meeting core curriculum and reading response.
Thanks!
Hi-
I think the Rockin' Reading Workshop would work for you. It gives a layout of what lessons to teach and when. Here's a link that will give you more details about that file: http://lessonplansos.blogspot.com/2011/07/rockin-reading-workshop.html
Let me know if you have any other questions,

Is this packet based on the Columbia Teacher's College Reading Workshop?
Hello,
Thanks for visiting our TpT store! I am not familiar with the Columbia Teacher's College Reading Workshop...in fact, I never heard of it. So, I don't think that it is related to it.
Thanks!!

Hello! This is my first year to teach reading. I have purchased the Teacher Reading Binder. I am teaching fifth grade, does the Rockin' Reading Workshop work for that grade level?
Hello!
Thank you for checking out our TpT Store!
Yes, I do believe that you will find the Rockin' Reading Workshop a good fit for fifth grade, because the students are taught to independently read just right books when the teacher is teaching guided reading groups/conferencing. You might also be interested in our Reader's Notebook: For the Students! file as well.
I hope that helps answer your questions!!!
Melissa :)

Hello Meredith,
Thank you for your message! Yes, the Rockin' Reading Workshop is different than the Teacher Reading Binder. No, you do not need these to supplement what you already bought. The reading workshop is geared towards teachers who want to use independent reading and minilessons as the main focus to their reading instruction. (instead of literacy stations/centers.)
I hope that helps!
Thanks, Meredith!

I teach fifth grade and I'm wondering if your Reading Binder ($22) is too young for them? Would it be better to just order the reading workshop instead?
hello!
Thank you for visiting our TpT store! No, I do not think that the binder is too young for your kiddos- especially if you teach literature groups. Just as an FYI, we are updating our reading binder (again!!) and will have new activities included in that file. We hope to have the new activities ready by this weekend. If you do decide to purchase the binder, please come back to redownload the file this weekend!
Thanks,
Melissa :)

is the rockin reading workshop included in the ultimate reading binder ($22) just wondering which I should purchase?
Hello Jena,
Thanks for visiting our TpT store! No, the Rockin' Reading Workshop is not part of the Ultimate Reading Binder. Thanks for asking. Oh! And just as an FYI, we are updating our binder (again!!), so if you do decide to purchase the binder, make sure you check back and redownload the newest version. We will have the newest version ready by this weekend. Let us know if you have any questions!

I have a question. If i purchase the Guided Reading Teacher Binder, the $22.00 one, does that include the same thing as the Rockin Reading Workshop download, that is ten dollars? I think that I am confusing something that I read..Thank you
Hi, Crystal-
The Rockin Reading Workshop is not in the Guided Reading Teaching Binder. The Binder includes the Become a Guided Reading Guru file which is $9. I hope this helps answer your question. Nicole :)
I just purchased the Guided Reading guru. Should I purchase this as well or is this included. I have double purchased units before and need to be more careful.
Hi, are all of the documents that are in the Rockin' Reading Workshop also included in the Teacher's Reading Binder? I'm just trying to decided which would be best for me. Thanks!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting our TpT page! No, the Rockin' Reading Workshop is NOT included in the Teacher Reading Binder. Thanks for checking with us! Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi,
I saw your notebook on Pinterest and it looks like heaven for organization! I would like some of the forms but I teach kindergarten and you site states it begins for 1st grade. Would Rockin' work for kindergarten?
Thanks!
Hello! Thanks so much for your message and for visiting our TpT store. I apologize, but I would not recommend our files for kindergarten. (Especially not the Rockin' Reading Workshop file.) There are a LOT of resource pages for any grade level teacher included, but there are also some parts of the file to use with students. I am not sure that I would recommend those activities for kinders. If you are intersted in just the binder cover pages (for the Teacher Reading Binder), email us! We can just sell you those ($4.00) and send you an invoice for the cover pages.
I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Have a great day,
Melissa :)
I'm hoping you can help me! I am really looking for mini lessons to use with my first graders. I want to focus on Visualizing, Schema, Main Idea, Inferring, Sequencing and others along those lines. I see that your unit has mini lessons and I was wondering if you could just give me more info about them.
Would I be better to purchase your Reading File Binder? I'm really looking for enough mini lessons to get me through the year. This is only my second year in first and I did not like just using the basil last year.
Hi-
If you want to see some of our lesson ideas, we have lots of pictures on our blog www.lessonplansos.blogspot.com - just look under the links for guided reading. The reading binder is more for the teacher to organize and run their groups effectively. I teach 2nd grade and use the rockin reading workshop file for all of my mini lessons. We also have a file called Guided Reading with Pizzazz which is geared more towards younger students. I think looking at the pictures and descriptions on our blog will give you a better idea of the different items we have. If you have further questions, please feel free to email us at teachers@lessonplansos.com!
Nicole :)
I am trying to decide which of your products to buy...Rockin' Reading Workshop or the Ultimate....Just trying not to double up. I use the workshop model with my students while I am running small groups with my students. Which would be best.
Hi Diane,
Thank you for taking the time to ask a question about our files in our TpT store! I would try the Rockin' Reading Workshop file- I think you will enjoy that one! Also, read the comments that other buyers wrote for that product- it may help you make your decision!
Thanks!
Melissa :)
I love this pack (any many of the others that I bought) but some of the graphics did come through such as the smile faces. They downloaded as a black line/blur :( Is there anything I can do to fix that?
Hi Alyssa- Thanks for your message and for your purchase!
Are you using a Mac by chance? Many Mac are not able to view the newer pdf's. The lines won't be there when you print it out. You can download the latest version of Adobe Reader and it will fix any problems you have when viewing pdf's. There is also a TpT message that addresses your question on the page where you download your purchases. If you still have any trouble, send us an email at teachers@lessonplansos.com for further help. We can always email you the file. Thanks for visiting our TpT store! :)
I just bought your Guided Reading Guru Binder... is the Rockin' Reading different or is there an over lap? I'm looking forward to giving the Guru a try! :-)
Thanks so much for your message! The guided reading guru file is different from the rockin' reading workshop file. They are two approaches for teaching reading. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we would be happy to help!
Thank you!
Melissa and Nicole :)

I just bought your Rockin' Reading Workshop packet. I just glanced through it quickly and loved so many things! However, I noticed that parts of pages 68, 82, 90-94, and 96 are blacked out. It looks like it did not download correctly or there is clipart/font that didn't work right. Is it just me? Is there any way we could fix it because I'd love to use the templates for my students? Thank you so much!

I have another question. I was scrolling down and saw your other reading link:http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teacher-Reading-Binder-Ultimate-Resource-for-any-Teacher
For 10 for dollars does it have all this and more or are they very different? Im looking for step by step to follow. Ive never done this before.
Hello,
I am not sure if I understand your question, however I think your best bet is to look at the feedback that the customers posted for that product. Many teachers who are new to teaching find it helpful and so do veteran teachers. Please feel free to email us at teachers@lessonplansos.com if you have any other questions.
:)
Hello,
For the Rockin' Reading Workshop file, the mini-lessons are created based off of the Guiding Readers and Writers book by Kathy Collins and Guiding Reading and Writers by Fountas adn Pinnell. Both books are wondering resources! :)
I am trying to leave feedback, but it won't let me. Anyhow, this is an amazing product. I can't believe how much information is packed into this, what a blessing it was for me to receive this file! This is a must have for any reading teacher!
Hi Heather,
It is difficult to find files through the search on the site, thanks for asking! Here is the link:

When I click on the download preview button it just takes me back to the original page. It does not show any preview.
Hello!
I just clicked on the yellow download preview button for the Rockin Reading Workshop file and it worked for me. Would it help to email you the preview? If so, email us at teachers@lessonplansos.com and we will email you the preview file. Thanks!
Between the two of us, we have taught a combined total of 26 years across all elementary grades 1-6. More importantly, we LOVE teaching and are excited to help teachers with their lesson planning!
