This 38 question figurative language identification exercise of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Act I quotations is an excellent in-class or homework activity. It may be done individually or in pairs/groups. It could be implemented as a prereading guide or as an assessment. The figurative language devices include: alliteration, parallel structure, classical allusion, repetition, metaphor, personification, simile, and pun. There are also a few example of 4 humors reference. Many of the items require more than one answer. A KEY is provided.
