This is a set of fifty word wall cards for pocket charts, literacy centers, and a quadrillion other uses! These cards illustrate the meaning of the numerical Latin and Greek roots that we find in everyday words. They look good in black and white and even better in color.
Where possible, I have provided two options for each root. One is illustrated graphically, the other numerically. For example, one "bi" card has an illustration of a birthday cake with two candles. The other has a number "2". Use which ever one you want. It depends on how hard you want to make the kids think. I personally like to use the ones that make them think about it. They foster more discussion and build meaningful mnemonic relationships.
I use them for previewing the words that students will be encountering in an upcoming story, poem, or informational piece. For example, if an upcoming reading assigment contains the words kilometer, quadrilateral, and hexadecimal, I would use cards for "hex," "dec," "quad," and "kilo" to prepare the students for those words.

Steve's work is excellent! He's my new favorite at TpT. As a Resource Specialist for 4th, 5th & 6th graders I am always on the lookout for well illustrated ELA materials. I just purchased your common core standards poster set for 6th grade. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to pick a theme from the list or if you include all themes in your graphics. If I have to pick a theme, I chose "rock star"! Anyway your materials are great..HOWEVER you do supply more for 5th grade math common core in terms of flip card resources etc. Any chance you will be creating more for 6th grade math? If so, I know that my principal will pay for every 6th grade math teacher in the building to buy it.

All the themes are in there, including the rockstar theme. All the flip cards for all the 6th grade math standards are in there, too. Its true I do offer the 5th grade math cards separately. I stopped doing that with the other grades because it was too hard to maintain all those separate products (three for every grade instead of just one). But all the math standards are in the 6th grade posters bundle.
If your principal only wants the math standards and doesn't want to pay for the math and ELA bundle, we can do a separate transaction for that through my PayPal account and I will email the math standards to you guys. It would be $5 per math set. My paypal email is steve.g.gipson@gmail.com .
