This fun and entertaining powerpoint is the perfect introduction to rounding to nearest ten and nearest hundred. It is also a great review for those who have learned to round but need a refresher. Students are taught to use a number line as a concrete tool for choosing which ten or hundred a number should round to. They are introduced to digits 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 as the "strong men" of rounding--strong enough to push a number up to the next ten or hundred. They also get to know digits 1,2,3,and 4 as rounding's "wimpy guys"--with not enough power to push a number up to the higher ten and content to let it stay at the lower ten. My students loved this powerpoint and I'm sure yours will, too!
