I've compiled this 10-page RTI treasure of research-based reading interventions while implementing RTI for the last three years at my school, Lake Myra Elementary. For RTI interventions, we do not use 'programs' because programs aren't very targeted. When providing a student an intervention in the RTI process, the intervention is specific and targeted to the child's one most foundational area of need. On the last page of the document, I include all the blog posts I've written that discuss the implementation of RTI at our school. This document is a compilation of text and media resources. It is licensed under Creative Commons, Non-Commercial, Attribution and Share-Alike.
Soon, I will be adding over 50 pages of our school's RTI documents as a FREE resource here on TpT. Follow me if you would like to be notified via email when this is posted. {This has been posted in my store} but continue to follow me because I add RTI resources frequently, like my new FLUENCY bundle below.
What an amazing resource. I printed this and put it in the front of my Guided Reading Binder along with your conversion chart. I am pinning so other teachers can find it as well!
Wow! Well, good luck with that. Sounds like you know what's going on. You should also download the free download of the LMES RTI documents, in my store too!
Thanks,
Jen

This is a wonderful tool for our RTI implementation. Thank you so very much.
I particulary liked the examples of phrases that you could use with students such as " Is that what you meant." Great phrases to guide reading. Thank you so much for so many ideas.
This is a fabulous resource for teachers of students with specific learning needs.

I have been looking everywhere for an intervention meun like the one you made here. Thank you for making this FREE! This is going to help me so much in meetings with parents to explain the documentation clearly. I love it!

What is the P.A.S.T. assessment and where do I get one???
The PAST stands for Phonological Awareness Skills Assessment. It's from the book, Sounds in Action, but the assessment itself is free to download on my blog, at www.helloliteracy.blogspot.com Here is the post that includes the assessment, and other Digging Deeper assessments.....
At this point, I do not. Math skills are not as foundational in learning order as reading, so I am struggling a bit more to compose a document like this for math. If I ever do though, I will definitely share it here. Jen
Hi Jen - I wanted to ask you if I could share this on my website busykidshapymom.org? I think this would be a great tool for parents too,. I shared it yesterday on pinterest on a new teacher board and it was repinned 143 times! :)
Wow! That's fantastic...of course you can share it, definitely! If you don't mind linking back to my blog, www.helloliteracy.blogspot.com, I would appreciate it. THANKS for asking!
Jen
I would love to, but I am a literacy specialist. Have you seen the Kathy Richardson math resources online?

Hi! I purchased the 10$ assessments pack and downloaded your If, Then.. pack and I am wondering where I can find some of the things you listed. (ex: P.A.S.T. assessment/Hello Literacy phon. awareness curriculum/....) I need for small group lessons for the week before monitoring progress. Thanks!!
Sure. On the last page of the If/Then doc, are all my blog posts about RTI. The one called Digging Deeper Assessments has all the links to those assessments (in the post). For PA, I write and sell the lessons at www.hellotwopeasinapod.com. Teach the lessons for one month, assess students with the PAST. Form a small intervention group, provide a PA intervention, progress monitor with my PM pack. "Rinse and repeat." Take care, Jen

I LOVE THESE. I WORK WITH A TEAM OF THREE OTHER KINDERGARTIN TEACHERS. WE ARE IN THE PROGRESS OF CREATING A INTERVENTION PROGRAM THAT NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN OUT WEEKLY AND STUDENT GROUPED. WE WILL HAVE THESE POSTED AT OUR DOOR FOR OTHERS TO VIEW. DO YOU HAVE A DOCUMENT W COULD USE? I WILL BE BUYING SOME OF YOUR OTHERS LATER TODAY. EXCITED TO SEE THEM. THANKS FRAN

I love this document. Will you ever make an "If, Then" document for math?
What is the title of the 50 page document mentioned below?
Thanks so much! Sherri Heil

Nothing for math interventions. Although I do have a Bundle of PM probes for early numeracy interventions. The 70 page bundle is RTI: LMES Documents.

I have downloaded this document and am very excited to use it. However, when I print it will only allow me to print the cover page. Is there a printing block on the other pages? If so, could I possibly get a copy without that block? I LOVE your items. Thank you so much! Laura Sadler lsadler@usd345.com
I would like to be able to use your If, Then menu at my school. We wanted to be able to add to it for particular students. Since it is in PDF form with tables, I'm not able to change it into another document. Is it possible to send it or download it in a different form? Thank you. It looks great.

I love this document. I know your focus is literacy as is mine but I am constantly asked for math interventions. Do you have a similar document for math? Will math be included in your 50 page document I saw you mentioned in your description? Thanks!
Math? I'm a literacy specialist. I'm sorry. Schoolwide, we have nothing systematic for math interventions.

Are the different interventions, like Elkonin sound boxes you've mentioned located on the websites that you've cited at the end? Does your school place them in designated intervention groups? We have intervention teachers at our site who teach specific programs, but lack the variety of interventions that you've mentioned in your menu.
Elkonin boxes are a sound/spelling strategy, especially helpful when teaching kids to listen for where in a word they hear a sound, and what letter or letter combination matches that sound. I learned to use it as instructional strategy years ago in my Reading Recovery training, but it's pretty widely used in primary and I've trained all my primary teachers on its use. Here a link if you want to read more: http://www.readingrockets.org/strategies/elkonin_boxes/
Our *school* does not place anybody in "designated intervention groups"...grade level PLT's have conversations...IF 80% of students are at core in an area, then progress is monitored FIRST, through providing feedback to students and students setting goals and graphing their progress toward those goals. IF, core classroom interventions are not working THEN interventions are provided to those 5-15% that still don't get it, who still fail to make growth. Teachers try to group students based on their needs, and sometimes it works out (like if 5 3rd graders need consonant blend work, then they are grouped together for a 5-10 minute intervention each day, that the 3rd grade teachers teach on a weekly rotation). However, if students have very targeted, and unique holes to fill, then the intervention is provided one on one, by the classroom teacher...again, where an RTI intervention lasts 5-10 minutes and targets ONE reading area & skill to work on.
Like I said in my product description, for RTI, interventions should not be programmatic. Programs would best for kids who need a second scoop of learning on a broad scale (often kids receiving RTI intervention are also the same kids needing a second scoop or dip of learning each day) but RTI interventions should be short, sweet and target only the most foundational area of need. Think of it this way, if you are hitting 10-12 skills in a 30 minute program lesson, how do you know which instructional teaching of the 10-12 things, shored up what? Target 1, maybe 2 and progress monitor for that 1 or 2. Then, after they have that skill under their belt, move to the next most foundational area of need, OR go remove the child from RTI if they are at benchmark or above in everything else.
I hope I answered your questions.

Would you consider creating different versions of this based on the student's independent or instructional reading level?
Dear Belloke,
Hi. I saw this question (first) over on the comments and rating tab...and I answered it. Great question! Thanks for leaving the feedback!
