This is the rubric I use to score the students' Reader's Theater performances each week. They are worth a total of 100 points. 70 points for their performance and 30 for watching the others and reflecting upon what happened. The students are given their own copy so that they know EXACTLY how I grade their performance and what I want. There are no surprises. My name is Melanie Whitesides and I've used my rubric for a year and a half. It is important to let them know what is expected. If you want to see how each of the two pages look. see the preview. I've listed the first rubric column and the reflective writing assignment. This is a great way to tie in writing with reading and give students a chance to make themselves better.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Subject Area:

I am now heading into my third year of teaching but my 11th Year of working with schools. I teach a 99% American Indian class. They are 90% ELL and the problem that we face each day is low literacy and low math skills. I've written childrens and young adult books as well as poetry but have not found myself an agent yet to help publish them.
