I created my own rubric for assessing readers during conferences and turn & talks. I think it’s necessary for students to receive feedback on how they are doing with regard to their ability to analyze information about the reading they are doing about character. You can use this rubric to gather readers who had similar scores, regardless of their reading levels, on this assessment together at the same time and show them their (own) sheet with their levels (one – four) circled. Then, talk to them about the ratings they received so they know what to work on going-forward.
