It is important at the beginning of the year to establish rules for your classroom. Many schools create their own set of rules and require every classroom to adhere to them. That was the case in my school as well. Our rules were all based on the word Respect. Students were expected to 1.) Respect Themselves, 2.) Respect Others, 3.) Respect Property, and 4.) Respect the Environment. We brainstormed during the first week of school what kinds of behaviors would demonstrate that we were being respectful. This Power Point presentation is the result of our discussions.
We determined that we needed to be respectful not only in our classroom, but in other areas of our school as well including the cafeteria, the library, the playground, and, most especially, the bathrooms. You will see that the students created behavior guidelines for all those places. This Power Point is five pages long and features animations and colorful graphics. I hope you find it as useful with your class as I did with mine.
