Here are 50 more wonderful vocabulary words to fill your second semester! This list of 50 words goes along with my first semester list, so be sure to check that out, too. I created these lists using popular SAT prep books, and I've also included reference materials and dramatic terms in this semester's list. The list without the definitions is included if you'd like your students to write them as you teach the words. I printed the list out (front and back) on bright green paper, put it in a page protector, and handed it out the first week of school. Every day we learned or reviewed the words. Ambitious students had the opportunity to go ahead and look up future words, which some always liked to do. I also had a little incentive for the students if they found a vocab. word in a book, magazine, or newspaper and brought it into class. By the end of the year, I had my entire door covered with vocab. words found in advertisements, periodicals, etc.! The students LOVED seeing how the words they were learning in class were words that people used "out in the real world." You have to make vocab. fun and meaningful, and hopefully this list will take some of the work out of that for you.
