This FREE 9-page packet is a sampler of problems from four different SOLVE IT packets with a February theme. Enjoy tasting these tasks and then check out the complete other packets for more fun and learning! The tasks will keep your students engaged while they think about important math vocabulary and relationships. Use these problems to sharpen problem-solving skills, reinforce computation skills, and review other math skills. packet includes notes to the teacher, 4 pages of math problems, and a key for the teacher. The problems use the 100-number board as an aid to finding a solution. Use 1 page a day for a great opening activity or make them into a learning center! I have students complete the problems individually and then meet with a partner to discuss and share solutions, capped by whole-group sharing of the best methods to solve each problem. Students will apply math skills and have fun in the process!

The Shortest Address has a clue that reads "The number is greater than....but less than the value of 9 squared". Wouldn't the answer have to be less than 81? The answer given is 135. Also it says "3 does not divide it". 135 is divisible by 3.

You are finding the number to add to 100. The body of the problem says the number is over 100. I hope this helps.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience includes 25 years as a K-12 teacher, curriculum administrator, and district federal/state programs administrator. As a teacher, I specialized in middle school language arts and mathematics. Since retiring from the K-12 system, I have been teaching curriculum and education courses at the bachelors' and masters' degree levels as well as supervising student teachers. I am also a successful grant writer, specializing in competitive state and federal grant projects. As a private contractor, I also work to help teachers who need assistance to improve their skills.
