This 10-page math packet uses a fanciful story on the pot of gold theme with leprechauns and other Saint Patrick Day symbols. Students will enjoy practicing divisibility rules, identifying prime and composite numbers, and reviewing math vocabulary as they help Patrick get his Pot of Gold. Use the problems to sharpen problem-solving skills and reinforce computation skills. The packet includes notes to the teacher, 5 pages of math problems, and a key for the teacher. The problems use the 100-number board as an aid to finding a solution. Use 1 page a day for a great opening activity or make them into a learning center! I have students complete the problems individually and then meet with a partner to discuss and share solutions, capped by whole-group sharing of the best methods to solve each problem. Students will apply math skills, learn to recognize number patterns, and have fun in the process!

My teaching experience includes 25 years as a K-12 teacher, curriculum administrator, and district federal/state programs administrator. As a teacher, I specialized in middle school language arts and mathematics. Since retiring from the K-12 system, I have been teaching curriculum and education courses at the bachelors' and masters' degree levels as well as supervising student teachers. I am also a successful grant writer, specializing in competitive state and federal grant projects. As a private contractor, I also work to help teachers who need assistance to improve their skills.
