Math Assessment for 4th grade students to practice before the 1st STAAR test is given. It was written using the blueprint released by TEA as to what will be one the new STAAR test, and an item analysis is included. The percentage of readiness vs supporting standards is accurately written in this assessment. I tried to increase the rigor of the assessment adding the critical thinking and problem solving objective throughout the assessment, but also keeping a realistic view that the assessment writers will keep in mind the cognitive abilities of a 4th grader. This document will be updated as TEA releases more information about this new assessment.

Thank you for providing these STAAR practice tests and quizzes. My son does well in class, but performs poorly on multiple choice questions. These quizzes and tests have helped tremendously in helping him understand the questions he might see on the STAAR.

Thank you so much for the STAAR material. My grade level has looked all over for STARR material and found nothing. Everyone says that there is nothing right now, wait until January. When I found this material, it was to our delight. I shared it with the principal. I feel like we have made a giant step.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My husband and I have a combined total of 26 years of experience in education. I have 15 years education experience ranging from 1st - 5th grade in all subject areas, but my love is creating math materials for elementary school. I have been a math facilitator for the past 5 years at a Title I school in Texas where I have learned the importance of assessing students at the level of rigor needed to increase student achievement. Writing assessments is my expertise. My husband has been teaching high school Algebra, Algebra II, and PreCal for the past 13 years helping to increase Algebra scores from 40% to 80% in some sub population groups. We love the opportunity to share what we have created to help students be more successful.
